sequoiadendron giganteum vida magical mistery sequoiadendron giganteum vida magical mistery R ref : 11755 This variety is still rare on the market and is a lemon yellow improvement of the standard variety. It has a straight trunk and a very thick bark, cracked and clear brown colored. The main branches take a plunging slanting direction, giving its crown a very regular conical form. The leaves are like scales, spear-shaped, and their dimensions vary between 2 and 4 cm. The evergreen leaves present lemon yellow tones with glaucous reflections and red/brown colored cones. This resinous tree is quite resistant to cold in the tempered climate of France, Belgium, and Swiss. It likes light, the best is full sun exposure, or at least 6 hours a day of direct sunlight and a good atmospheric moist. It is sensitive to wind. It barely vegetates in the very hard soils. It is hard to multiply. Indeed, the "carrot" form of the Sequoiadendron roots system makes the transplantation of this tree quite difficult. The best is to plant it when it is very young. Its red/brown trunk stands out in any landscape. Adult height: about 300-350 cm. Adult width : 60-90 cm. Medium rate growth (30/40 cm per year). The giant sequoia grows in acid, clay, moist, sandy, and well-drained soils. This variety grows in a pyramidal form when it is young, and then takes a more columnar form over the years. Delivered in a 5-liter pot. Diameter : 22 cm. Approximate height of the plant on delivery: 80-100 cm. On a side note : the sequoiadendron giganteum lives in wildlife in California on the pccodental Sierra nevada valleys until 2000 meters of altitude. It reaches, in its country, 100 meter in height. In our countries, there only are about 60 meters hight subjects. One of the pictures shows you an adult subject at the nursery of the nurseryman who obtained this variety. 48,00 out of stock
