Description
1 spool of 100 meters of traditional Japanese rope. Ø approx. 3 mm. Approximate spool weight: 600 grams.
Also available in a 1000-meter version (ref. 6580).
Used by Japanese gardeners to build bamboo fences known as koetsu-gaki, it can also be used to secure bonsai trees to their stands, preventing them from falling over in the wind.
For optimal use, soak the rope in water for 20 minutes and use it damp. After soaking, it becomes more supple and tightens, helping to secure your knots firmly.
Known as Shuro Nawa (Palm Tree Rope or Shyuro Nawa), this is a 100% natural, recyclable, and compostable product. Made from part of the bark of Trachycarpus fortunei, it is dyed with traditional black ink.
For guy-wiring, the rope should be doubled or even quadrupled depending on the tension required. When properly installed, Shuro Nawa can last for several years and may develop moss if in contact with the soil.
