Branch spread: 600 mm This beautiful bonsai, styled in Moyogi (informal upright), is planted in a high-quality, handmade unglazed drum-shaped pot from Yixing, China, in a warm brown tone (Ø 400 x 110 mm). Collected as a yamadori, this tree features a perfectly formed bark, with no major pruning scars or wire marks. It was personally selected by Guy Maillot for the power and emotion that radiate from its expressive trunk and striking shari. Now aged between 80 and 90 years, the tree was refined and pruned in February 2020 by Japanese bonsai master Tomoya Nishikawa, in his own garden. Take a moment to admire the patinated shari along the trunk, weathered by time and the elements. A recent styling, including pruning and wiring, has further enhanced the overall structure of the tree, bringing out even more emotion for the viewer. Photographed in July 2025 |
